Our founding director began the journey that would become Shine On Support Services in 2017.

From a small one woman show in the garage to a team of 50 plus caring, amazing and professional support workers and administrators today.

Gene has never waivered from her belief that everyone deserves to shine and has championed continuously for all those in need of supports or needing their voice to be heard.

In the complex and ever changing NDIS system, Gene strives to deliver individual, effective, safe and caring services that ensure sustainability and longevity, with a continual focus on evolving, adapting and networking with like minded providers.

Qualifications: Diploma in Counselling, Certificate III Childcare.

What do you do in your role here, and what is important to you in your role at Shine On? I oversee our support services, team leaders, key workers and support workers to ensure they are able to carry out their roles in frontline supports as efficiently as possible. I also follow up with all intake referrals. I love seeing participants improve their quality of life and being able to remain as independent as they possibly can.

What do you love about working at Shine On? How well supported we are, you are really made to feel valued within the team from everyone around, It’s great how everyone is happy to help. Also, to have a CEO who is so hands on and be a face of her company and be so proud of what she has achieved ,to be a part of that feels great!

What are your favourite interests or activities outside of work?

Spending time with family and friends, travelling and reading.

Qualifications: Certificate IV Frontline Management, Mental Health First Aid.

What do you do in your role here, and what is important to you in your role a Shine On? I work closely with the services manager and our participants to design a supportive and effective roster of care.
